Whether you have a Product Design, Electronic Design or Software Development requirement, Gill Technology works around a framework which, through experience, provides successful results efficiently and on time. Our quotations take the form of a detailed proposal including our suggested stages of development, what the deliverables will be, timeframes involved and the cost.
If you have a development requirement we would be happy to go through it with you. The first stage is often to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), allowing you to explain the concept to us. We would then arrange an initial meeting to discuss the options and expected work involved to enable us to put a proposal together.
Below is a brief description of the stages of development expected in most of our projects. |
Concept Design
Creation of a product specification and generation of ideas to solve the problem. The outcome of this stage is an agreement between ourselves and our client about the general direction of design development, proposed milestones, timeframes and costs.
Proof of Concept
Depending on the type of project, a 3D model, working prototype, E-Drawing, feasibility study or report (or a combination) will be submitted for analysis. This stage is used to prove the principle of the technology/mechanics/theory of the proposal. At this stage the product specification is reviewed with the client to determine any necessary changes that may be required. The result of this stage is a clearer understanding of the next steps required in the design process to enable the development of the design.
Development
A combination of liaison with the client and defined milestones ensure that development runs smoothly and predetermined deadlines are met. During this stage the functional and aesthetic properties are defined, with major design developments reviewed by the client before proceeding onto the next steps. At all stages in the development the final production method is considered, ensuring unnecessary future modifications are avoided. The result of this development is often the production of a batch of finished products for testing.
Documentation
All elements of the final design are fully detailed, with drawings completed to the exacting standards of ISO:9001-2000. Assembly process instructions, parts lists, operational instructions and quality plans are completed (where appropriate), giving the client a clear picture of all elements of the final product.
Production Engineering
In this stage any tweaks to the final design can be made to ensure the product fulfills the client's requirements. Working with Gill Instruments, we can set up facilities for volume manufacture so that the product is ready to be taken to market.
